In Rättvik, central Sweden, a 55-year-old man was convicted for operating a drone while intoxicated during a classic car event, making it Sweden’s first such case. He was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.69 per mille, exceeding the legal limit of 0.2 per mille. The court applied the same framework used for drunk driving offenses and ordered a fine of 32,000 SEK(~2 800 EUR), to be paid in 80 daily instalments. The case sets a legal precedent by classifying drone operation under existing drunk-driving rules.
